oh the good life

The weekend was quite eventful..
The black and whiteparty friday night was super fun. I danced the night away and loved it all.
Saturday was long at the health fair. But I clowned it up with the kids juggling and dancing. I had 2 other hip hopers come through as well. I had quite a few interested in dance classes for adults and kids.
By 4pm I was done though. I grabbed a bite to eat with my friend Phenier and then went swimming in the sea and had a doze of my friends baby Ocean. It was just what I needed. Today Benedicte did a practical physical examination it was so relaxing. I think we forget too often how healing the hands on touch can be.
I went to the river to cool off and then off to Champagne for snorkeling and swimming. I love that it is a beautiful walk from my place to go to the sea and enjoy. watched the sunset as I warmed my back on the rocks drying the salt water from my skin.
gorgeous...
Tomorrow I'm doing a yoga trade with a teacher here...
life on the island is great. I gotta try and hitch a ride back to my place now. until the next beautiful day arises....

BUSY

WOW here we go with classes coming up in April
Let's go Dominica.
So things are a go here. I'm moving out of my crazy guesthouse tomorrow for 2 weeks with my new friend Lucia. She has an extra room for me and then I move into my luxorious new place with a huge rooftop balcony and there is even a pool. amazing views.. I'm stoked and Mrs. Ellen Paul my landlord is bringing the price down for me!!!HDIGABTT? So this weekend Friday night is Black and White Affair one of the biggest parties on the island besides carnival. I'm stoke. Getting my hair re-shaved with a design and gonna WERK IT!
Then Saturday all day I have volunteered to dress as a clown and dance for the health Fair at the University. I have made brochures to promote dance as exercise and to promote all my classes starting up.
It shall be quite an eventful weekend. Week, month..........
So looking forward to my housing situation to change. The one roommate has been out of it again and keeping me awake most nights..
More news soon
love to all of you

The mayor.... my new friend

Interesting enough. Imet the Mayor of Roseau last week (Cecil Joseph) and he has written me a letter of recommendation for my work permit which I finished up all that today. Along with he actually called the lady of the place I want to rent and tried talking her down in price. Then he took me with him and his contractor who are building his house and drove up to where I want to rent and checked it out for me and said it's an amazing place and should take it.
It really is a dream apt overlooking green lush mtns and the sea. it's a bright orange building with a huge rooftop deck (hello morning yoga)
And now the lady knows I'm friends with the mayor and she will treat me very nice... that's how it works here.
so yes I've been bouncing around all over. The dance classes are almost starting... paperwork, posters, advertising, location,etc.....
I spent a night up near Trafalga falls last night so beautiful I have the chance to stay up there but it's not easy getting buses to and from in the evening and weekends. The family where I would be staying by has a guest house they rent rooms they would give me my room for cheap it I would help with the 6 kids... I've been there and done that don't think it's for me in this moment of my life.
It's about doing what I love love, when and how I want to.
I met a girl from the states who is teaching yoga in Barbados said it took her almost 9 months to get things going. Well I've been here one month and things are happening and gonna just get busier!!!
Oh I love it when the universe gifts what I require of it.
Now to make it a few more weeks in the place i'm at. or what would it take find something temporary that would make my life more ease joy and glory!
The english lady has returned to the house now her and the american lady can party together....Such an interesting mix.... Can anyone say ALLOWANCE!!!
More to come soon....

New roommate...how did I get so lucky

Last week a woman stopped by with Rasta man Paum Pau to check out a room at the place I'm staying,,, seemed nice enough...57 american woman.
So i see her the other day on the bus and she said she didn't move in because she felt she was intruding I said nah no worries.
Oh did I mention Jane (the english lady) has been mia for about a week now.
So Pam moves in yesterday, 3 rasta guys move all of her stuff includin gher big cat Joe..
she gets to talking and soon I know her whole made up life story. I head off to town to teach my class I had 2 students they are my star students, there every class... Lynthia and Princess. After i walk home through Newtown the only way to walk home which is where I here every pick up line you could think of.... psst hey you can I watch you walk... or pssssssst can I keep you company..... or i had one guy ask if I wanted the best weed... by then I was fed up and told him to fuck off I think i freaked him out a bit and he started ranting away I just kept on walking as you do here.
when I got home my new roommate was obliterating drunk ( its 6pm)and she cant quite walk. I cut my hair( O i did some splicing i think you would be proud) mini bangs
Then Julie stopped by (Bene's baby's father who is in charge of the place right now) Pam starts telling her whole life story to him and is a crying mess. Paum Pau is there and his 2 kids (2 boys really nice)
Pam continues to sneak into her room to down her booze and then come out as if nobody notices it's so entertaining to me.
I eat my dinner and practice a little breakdance I show the kids some stuff. By then I have heard Pams story 3 too many times. I tuck into my room and they are up to the wee hours of the morning.
And then this morning she's still drunk and is trying to make ramen noodles which are all over the floor.
I also have some new pet crabs that keep coming into my room they are cute mama and baby above you will see photo of mama I'm posting.
I get a call from Phenier (my dance partner) to meet in town.
and I'm off and out of the house.
I get a ride from a lovely old german lady into town. She was sweet.
I met Phenier at the barber shop and we went to Virtual the starbucks here met his brother, talked business and computers..
Then we had dance practice, we worked on the hip hop choreography and then I learned basic cha cha cha!!!!
Soo much fun. He's very serious about dance it's cute. After we ran into his friend who works at the tv station and is gonna interview us for our dance class and etc....
I walked back to the village where I went to Bene's neighbors house (janet) she is Oceans (bene's baby) auntie and is helping me find a place to rent as is everyone i've met today I put it out there Im looking for a place to live. I got a lot of people looking for me now.
I visited with Bene for a bit she ws busy studying and I told her to imagine this is a small footnote in her life and she will get past this and have her whole book ahead of her. I went for a swim in the sea for sunset it was beautiful.
I ran home to find my roomie in a state again. So here I am at my friends Regi and Caroline down the road where they have internet to bless you all with this writing. Hope you enjoy

loving it!

Well finally the universe has caught up with me..... with possibilities. I met Phinier this weekend who is a latin dancer... We are going to be having Latino Hip Hop dance classes. We spent all weekend goin through details. I will teach warmup and first hour of hip hop, dancehall or breaking and then we will teach salsa, meregue, or cha cha. We will switch it up. We got our venues today one in town .. Arawak theater and then one outside of town Crazy Coconuts. The local radio station will be promoting everything for us flyers and all for free!!!
oh and did I mention I get to re visit all these latin dances and co teach them!!!
My friend Shasta from chicago is coming down this week and hopefully we do a photoshoot for the flyers.
Now it's time to find a place to live...
got some leads today. Tomorrow I'm learning cha cha and teaching at the University. I'm still plugging away at the hotels here to teach yoga and practice massage. I find out thursday about another space where I'll be teaching yoga and exercise classes 2x a week in the nearby village.
my roommate has been gone so my house has been quiet with the river flowing next to it and birds singing. It rained for a tiny bit today.... we have been in a drought since I got here so wish more this way....

oh Boye!!!

HMMM Well interested in this life yet....I'm still asking questions around it all.
This week I made some contacts thats for sure. I met one woman Pamela who has it together and is motivated. I found a community center to teach 2x a week in the village i live near. I find out next week if I get it but I'm pretty sure it's a go. I met up with a dance teacher who teaches salsa and she gave me some info and different spots to check out. Yoga isn't so poplar with locals here as they are very religious and they have a point of view about yoga as a religion but I'm still teaching them it we just call it body movement and awareness class!!!
I had students in my University class this week. That was a good times.
The living situation has got to change asap. I called a couple of apt places in the last few days hopefully early next week i get something for the locals price!(they have dif prices for foreigners:(t
I spent most of my day in the bush on a rock in the river meditating, contemplating life and choices...and moving on.
I'm still calling this Fort young hotel and trying to get some info as far as teaching there ... as was the plan before I got here.
i was In town a lot this week meeting with people going to the damn phone company....they don't have a plan where minutes and texts are all included. I pay as I go and it's re-dunk....
I made some fab food last night. Pumpkin fried dumpling with past and pumpkin/curry/ fish sauce. i was impressed and ate it all up by myself!!!
Life continues to change every moment. I think I ate too much sugar for dinner oh well sugar never hurt me before....
Big MWAH to all

This is gonna be the week!

Alright week 3 in Dominica. Things are getting even better. My living situation is stable for the moment I have an offer up in Trafalga with a family but I didn't want to be a nanny and give my life away to other people... Nope it's my life now
The weekend was lovely I did a lot of walking and swimming. collected some lemongrass along the way. I did a yoga photo shoot in the bush the other day got some nice ones.
I will try posting them on this blog but will have them on my facebook.
I made some good contact today and more tomorrow
Life is so interesting and I love it moment to moment
